APA Day At The Texas Capitol
May 1 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm
Please join us to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Day at the Texas Capitol on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.
It is an opportunity to visit with your legislator, and to promote legislation/policies. Activities will start with a welcome to the House and Senate Galleries in the morning. Then we will split into VIP tours to Capitol offices along with a lite lunch. We will then convene in the Auditorium, for an afternoon program.
There is so much to experience ranging from walking into our two historic Supreme Court Chambers to witnessing truly unique features such as General Santa Anna’s desk. See a priceless gallery of pictures and photographs – Davy Crockett, Governor, later, President George W. Bush, and so many more. We can try to set-up a Capitol Dome tour (lots of stairs and likely very hot) for up to 12 participants.
Mimi Nguyen, in my office at (512)463-0486 or Mimi.Nguyen@House.Texas.Gov, will be happy to assist with your questions. If you are able to attend, please email your home address so that we can link you with your legislators. With your attending RSVP, Mimi will email a detailed agenda as we get closer to May 1.
I am thrilled that a number of my legislative colleagues are joining me in this effort, and special kudos to the community leaders working to make this event a success.
Hope to see you this coming May 1,
Texas State Representative Angie Chen Button
